Bridging the Gap: Voting in Alabama

 Election Day is November 3, and COVID-19 has created lots of questions and discussions about voting during a global pandemic. Even without COVID-19, millions of Americans each year find themselves unable to vote because they miss a registration deadline, don't update their registration, or aren't sure how to register. National Voter Registration Day is designed to make sure everyone has the opportunity to vote. National Voter Registration Day will take place September 22. In honor of this nonpartisan, civic holiday that celebrates our democracy, the Diverse Business Council will host a Bridging the Gap webinar with Alabama Secretary of State, John Merrill for a discussion on Voting in Alabama.

This Zoom webinar will be a follow-up to the March 19th conference call with Secretary Fitzgerald Washington of the Alabama Department of Labor. As you know, not only has the Alabama Department of Labor allowed temporarily displaced employees to file for unemployment compensation, but additional federal unemployment assistance has been approved by Congress through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
